As i previously wrote i am having an algae prob in one of my tanks, today i had a look for some solutions and came across this wonderful page with lots of helpful advice. I have also stated that i don't use chemicals if i can help it so i intend to have a go at the "Siesta" method, i have also returned my filter to its original position in the tank.

This is Seve who is a severum and is currently about 4inches

This is my Female T-bar Cichlid,

This one has both male(top) and female(bottom) along with an L Dorsiger(left) who is in there to help the pair bond. Sorry about the waterspots on the glass but where the tank is sited you can’t really see them.

Have been to hospital today to have my Kidneys tested as i had a water infection. Everything was going well, had x-rays and ultra-sound which was fine but then they said they needed to check my bladder with a small camera…..i can tell you now its not small and its not swallowed.

Algae April 28, 2006

I am having a problem with algae in the tank which holds my Severum. I recently moved things about and i think i have somehow reduced oxygen levels. it has a sand bed no more than 1/2 an inch thick so don't think it is that stagnating. The filter is however lower in the water and not agitating the surface as much so i will be moving it back, i m also contemplating getting some live plants although i am useless at keeping them alive. For those of you out there who are asking what are the tank parameters are i shall inform you i have never tested water and never intend too in my freshwater tanks.

I know he has a fantastic management record but what happened to the FA making an English appointment, what are they saying about English managers, i'm fiercly patriotic and would rather see a slightly less accomplished Englishman in the job. And if the FA are saying that English managers are not up to the job then they should have done something long before now to make sure someone was, i think this appointment if it goes ahead is a cop out by the FA.

Live Rock April 26, 2006

I have been investigating the use of live rock in reef tanks, what i have found out is that you need to use have a minimum of 1lb to a maximum of 1.75lb per gallon of water. Most sites i have visited recommend 1.35-1.5lb per gallon. I have also found out that it does not all have to be live rock about 1/3 can be base rock which will eventually become live. From what i can gather the more porous the better although i think that needs to be looked into further.

Anyway my point about this in my circumstances is that i can purchace about 14lb of rock before setting much up as it will not be live which suits me as it fits in with me having to build up slowly.
